I was fascinated by snow all my life but my first encounter with snow happened this March. Manali popularly described as the Switzerland of India is the most visited destination on India tours and visitors come from all around the world to enjoy holidays. It is a location with the perfect beauty of nature, weather, and scenic natural beauty and picturesque view of mountains. Captivating view of the snowy mountains, flowers adding magical perfume to the air, apple orchards, gushing of waterfall etc make this heavenly place the perfect destination to enjoy holidays for visitors and couples. Vashist springs, Hadimba Temple, Beas Kund, Rohtang pass, Solang pass etc are the major tourist attraction of Manali
We had a tough time to plan a trip to Manali as it takes almost 4 days travel if you go by Train . You need to go until Delhi and from there you have to go to Manali which is another 14 hrs Journey .We cheked out all the travel agencys but the budget they gave was as good as Indian Budget so we thought to discover ourselves.
We reached Delhi and then we need to reach Manali either by individual cab or through Bus .We reached early in the morning and buses start only in night . Agencys there offer buses with packages with additional services like room + food + car for 2 couples for local sightseeing along with delhi – manali to and fro . So we opted Individual cab so tht we can have the advantage of our preffered locations .
We started at Morning 9am from Delhi – Chandigarh- Punjab – Himachal Pradesh and MANALI . We reached Manali at night 12.Our Driver was too gud at his job and was careful at same time. It was chilling cold and though we packed all our warm clothes still we had to stop at the wollen store and get all necessary stuff . As we reached the at 12pm we were too tired to search for a hotel which is in mid of orchards so we resumed to sleep .But next day we realized there are more exotic locations so we moved to this beautiful hotel which is in middle of apple orchards and snow mountains . We started to Solang Valley. I never saw anything as beautiful as such beautiful locations all my life . The river , trees flowers , mountains with snow all over it was Lifetime experience for sure. Once past the major chaos like huge traffic, the whole setting was ethereal.Bright sunshine, green trees braving the cold of the Himalayas & standing tall, wind whizzing past :-) We have been suggested to take ski dress and paragaliding set and guide to help us in particular shop , now drivers try to make as much money as possible so we have to enquire beforehand for all the games and slides.
The complete route for Sollang valley was like entering Heavan. We started with skiing and then Paragliding , zorbing, snow biking, mule and yak rides , the sun was dipping by now & the wind was fiercer. then we were back to the hotel they had a DJ and it was packed with both Indian and foreign tourists . We had great time dancing . Next day we are scheduled to visit all temples but I was to excited to visit the snow again and again so we went back again to SolangValley and then Hadimba temple . The weather was quite pleasant there (obviously). We first went to the Hadimba Temple. It is up a hill, about 1.5kms away from the main market. After a while the path goes inside the pine trees, which was quite refreshing. This is an ancient temple, a wife of Bhima, sister of Hadimb. It was for the first time a saw a temple for Rakshasi , It really looks like the temple of a 'Rakshasi', in the sense that the outer region has some horns and skulls as decorations!!! From here, we went back to the Tibetan monastery. It is a small beautiful monastery, located right at the heart of the city. After hanging around there for a while, we went to the 'Van Vihar', a preserved forest area with full of pine trees. There were lot of crowd at the entrance and nearby area. We went further inside and selected a cool place to take some rest. There was the Beas river flowing nearby. We sat there watching the river flow. We were really enjoying the pleasant weather there. After resting in the forest for a while, we moved to the banks of river Beas. Rohatnag Pass was closed as that was not the season .Food in Manali is not so yummy but you have Punjabi Hotels all over so I enjoyed all that yummy Punjabi dishes. For all the games I suggest never take a package as individual negotiations saves you lot of money. Me being great lover of trecking enquired about trecking but to my utter disappointment we need 2 more days for that L (We never have such understanding boses for tht xtra leave) . For River Rafting we need to reach back Kulu . Manali - Kulu was such a beautiful journey. It rain heavily .And the whole climate was so romantic I think Kulu-Manali is the most recommended place for Homeymoon. It creates all the majic and has spell bound beauty. I dint miss my Sathiya song at Beas river nor Jab we met song While Mountain biking J .We started back to Delhi at evening 6 this time driver drove more fast and we are in Delhi by Morning 5am. I loved Manali so much that I want to visit again and again in different seasons, this time yea I will do trekking and River Rafting . Ladakh and Kashmir are my Fav destinations too . Advice for u guys -----------MUST GO !
